1947 Tatra T87 - French Brochure
This early French language Tatra T87 is very unusual. Did you spot it? The car does not have the characteristic central headlight. The bonnet is clearly derived from the T600 Tatraplan, which is identical in all aspects. In some markets, Hungary for instance, the central headlight was deemed unsafe and removed. I'm not aware of the headlight being an issue in France however. It may also be that the factory began - or was considering - cost cutting to make the very expensive Tatra T87 a little more affordable. At any rate, once the lower priced Tatra T600 Tatraplan entered the market in 1948, the Tatra T87 was retired and the Tatraplan became the company's only civilian car.
