When I purchased the Tatraplan, it was in Sydney in storage after being passed in at recent auction. The seller arranged for it to be trucked back to Perth. After decades as a static exhibit the car was not really running. Its brakes were seized and, although the engine would turn over, it ran very rough. In May 2015 the car arrived back in Perth and was put in the hands of Wilf Chamberlain's Classic British Car Company. The Tatra IS NOT a British car but Wilf had serviced some of the York Museum's cars and had worked on the Tatra before. The car was available for collection on 23 May 2015, the same day as our Karmann Ghia so I had to do a lot of taxiing and shuffling vehicles around.
My first view 'my Tatra.'
The brakes and carburetors had been tuned.
The view of the drivers seat. I must admit driving her for the first time was a scary experience. The car handled so different from all of my other cars. It was not a pleasant experience.
It was a welcome moment getting home safely in one piece.
Parked in our carport.
